- Basic Energy
- Fundamental Energy cards in the Pokemon TCG that provide one unit of a specific type (Fire, Water, Grass, etc.). Basic Energy has no limit on how many copies can be included in a deck.

- Board Wipe
- A card effect that destroys all creatures or cards on the battlefield simultaneously. Examples include Dark Hole in Yu-Gi-Oh!, Wrath of God in MTG, and Boss's Orders combos in Pokemon.

- Card Advantage
- Having access to more cards than your opponent, either in hand or on the field. Card advantage is one of the most important strategic concepts across all TCGs, as more options generally lead to better outcomes.

- Chase Card
- The most desirable and often rarest card in a set that players and collectors actively seek. Chase cards drive pack sales and typically command the highest secondary market prices.

- CMC / Mana Value
- The total amount of mana required to cast a spell in Magic: The Gathering, regardless of color. Previously called "Converted Mana Cost" (CMC), now officially "Mana Value."

- A premium booster pack product containing a higher density of rare, foil, and alternate art cards compared to standard boosters. Available in MTG and some Pokemon products.

- A legendary creature that leads a 100-card singleton deck in MTG's Commander format. The commander starts in the command zone and can be cast multiple times with increasing cost.

- Deck Profile
- A complete list of all cards in a player's deck, often shared online to showcase competitive or creative builds. Deck profiles help other players understand strategy choices and card ratios.

- The resource system in One Piece TCG. Players gain one DON!! card per turn from a separate 10-card deck, up to a maximum of 10. DON!! can be used to play cards or attached to characters to boost their power by 1000 each.

- Resource cards in the Pokemon TCG required to use attacks. Players attach one Energy card per turn from their hand to a Pokemon. Different attack costs require specific Energy types (Fire, Water, etc.) or Colorless Energy.

- A Pokemon TCG product containing 9 booster packs, dice, sleeves, and an energy card set. ETBs are one of the most popular sealed products for both opening and collecting.

- Evolution
- In the Pokemon TCG, the process of placing a Stage 1 or Stage 2 card on top of its previous evolution. Evolved Pokemon generally have higher HP and stronger attacks but require setup time.

- A separate deck of up to 15 cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! containing Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Link, and Pendulum monsters. These cards are not drawn but summoned when their specific conditions are met during gameplay.

- Fetch Land
- A land card in MTG that sacrifices itself to search your deck for another land. Fetch lands are format staples valued for mana fixing and deck thinning, and are among the most expensive MTG cards.

- Foil
- A card printed with a reflective holographic or metallic finish. Foil versions of cards are generally rarer and more valuable than their non-foil counterparts across all TCGs.

- The process of having a card professionally evaluated and encased by companies like PSA, CGC, or Beckett. Graded cards receive a numeric score (1-10) based on centering, corners, edges, and surface condition. High grades significantly increase a card's market value.

- Illustration Rare
- A premium Pokemon card rarity featuring extended artwork that covers most or all of the card. Illustration Rares showcase unique artistic styles and are among the most collected modern Pokemon cards.

- A spell type in MTG that can be cast at any time, including during your opponent's turn. Instants enable reactive gameplay and bluffing, as opponents must consider what you might cast with open mana.

- Leader
- In One Piece TCG, the central card of your deck that stays on the field for the entire game. Leaders have a color identity, power value, life total, and unique abilities that define your deck's strategy.

- The health resource that determines when a player loses. Pokemon uses Prize cards (take 6 to win), MTG starts at 20 life, Yu-Gi-Oh! starts at 8000 LP, and One Piece uses Life cards on the Leader.

- Limited
- A card status on a banlist allowing only 1 copy in a deck (Yu-Gi-Oh!) or a gameplay format where decks are built from freshly opened packs (MTG Limited includes Draft and Sealed).

- A Yu-Gi-Oh! summoning method that uses monsters as materials based on a Link Monster's Link Rating (number of arrows). Link Monsters are placed in Extra Monster Zones and point to other zones to enable additional Extra Deck summons.

- Mana
- The resource system in Magic: The Gathering. Mana is produced primarily by land cards and comes in five colors (White, Blue, Black, Red, Green) plus colorless. Spells require specific amounts and colors of mana to cast.

- The current competitive landscape of a card game, including which decks are most popular and successful. Understanding the meta helps players choose decks and side deck cards to counter top strategies.

- Mill
- A strategy that wins by forcing the opponent to run out of cards in their deck rather than by dealing damage. Named after the MTG card Millstone, mill strategies exist in most TCGs.

- Mulligan
- The option to redraw your starting hand at the beginning of a game, usually with a penalty. MTG allows free mulligans to 7 then draws one fewer each time. Pokemon allows mulligans if you have no Basic Pokemon.

- The highest standard rarity in MTG, appearing approximately once every 7-8 packs. Mythic Rares are typically the most powerful and valuable cards in a set, indicated by an orange-red set symbol.

- Pendulum Summon
- A Yu-Gi-Oh! mechanic where Pendulum Monster cards are placed in Pendulum Zones as spells. Once two Pendulum Scales are set, you can summon multiple monsters from your hand or face-up Extra Deck whose levels fall between the scales.

- Planeswalker
- A card type in MTG representing powerful characters that enter with loyalty counters. Each turn, you activate one of their abilities (adding or removing loyalty). Opponents can attack planeswalkers to remove loyalty counters.

- Prize Card
- In the Pokemon TCG, six cards set aside face-down at the start of the game. You take a Prize card each time you knock out an opponent's Pokemon (or two for ex/VSTAR Pokemon). Taking all six Prizes wins the game.

- A classification indicating how scarce a card is within a set. Higher rarity cards are printed in smaller quantities and generally command higher prices. Common rarity tiers include Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Ultra Rare, with game-specific rarities above that.

- A limited format where each player opens a fixed number of packs and builds a deck using only those cards plus basic lands (MTG) or energy (Pokemon). Sealed tests deck building and adaptation skills.

- Slang for a professionally graded card encased in a hard plastic holder. "Slabbed" cards are protected from damage and their grade is permanently visible, making them popular for display and resale.

- A high-rarity Pokemon card featuring a unique, full-card illustration by a featured artist. SARs are among the most valuable modern Pokemon cards due to their striking artwork and low pull rates.
